All Hands on Deck

2011 has been a year of firsts for stunning newcomer Chrissy Blair. After winning this year’s TransWorld Motocross model search, she was a fresh face as the guest ring girl at UFC 133. Add in a first-time sailing experience for her inaugural appearance on the pages of FIGHT! , and we’ve got a bona fide reason to be excited about this month’s precious cargo.

What was your reaction when you found out you were going to be a guest ring girl at UFC 133?

I couldn’t believe I had the opportunity to do it. Arianny and Chandella are so lucky to have that job. It was an awesome experience. I would love to do it again.

Are you an official MMA fan now?

I’m definitely interested in MMA now. If it’s on, I’m going to want to watch it. I never really watched before, but after being a part of UFC 133, I was like, ‘This is really intense—this is cool.’

What was the best part of your UFC experience?

Getting up in front of that many people and just knowing I was a part of something that’s so exciting for the fans.

Do you have a favorite fighter yet?

The guys I met in person were great. Melvin Guillard was funny, sort of like the class clown who gets in trouble a lot. He made me laugh. Carlos Condit was super cute, and I really want to see him fight—and of course Clay Guida.

How did you get involved in modeling?

About eight months before I graduated from college, a really good friend of mine convinced me to enter the Salt Life Model Search competition. I did my first shoot with them, and the photographer told me that he couldn’t believe I had never modeled before. I just thought he was being nice, but after I saw the pictures, I really liked them and kept doing it.

You then went on to win the Miss TransWorld Motocross Model Search. Are you a fan of extreme sports?

I always watch extreme sports on TV—snowboarding, motocross, and skateboarding. Motocross is one of the ones I think is more intense because they’re always getting hurt and there’s more at risk. I think it’s a really cool sport.

Would you try motocross?

I think I would like motocross. I rode a four-wheeler for the first time in Costa Rica, and I was so scared to get on. But I did it myself, and I felt even better when the girl riding with me crashed after five minutes and I was like, Sweet—I’m still going. We went up mountains and down these crazy hills and cliffs. It was cool. After doing that, I would be interested in trying motocross, even though I would have to bundle up a lot so I don’t get hurt.

What do you do to stay in shape?

I like to do yoga, and I actually did Zumba for the first time a couple weeks ago. I was extremely embarrassed when we first started, but after five minutes, it felt really good. It’s funny because I love dancing at the clubs with my friends. Yoga is definitely one of my favorites because it’s so stress relieving for me. For workouts, I usually run and do strength training.

I understand you have good sea legs. How was the photo shoot on the boat?

It was exciting. It was actually my first sailing experience, so I definitely have a really good first-time memory with that. I didn’t get sick, and we were out there for five hours. It was a beautiful day, and everyone was so nice.

So you wouldn’t be opposed to future high-seas adventures?

No, I’ve always thought it would be really cool to live on a boat for a few months.

What would fans be surprised to learn about you?

People think I’m just an innocent All-American girl, but I definitely like to go out with my friends and dance and get down. A lot of people are completely surprised by the music I listen to. I like eclectic, non-mainstream, and underground hip-hop music. People usually look at me and think I should be listening to country music. I can definitely have my fun, and I will try interesting things like rock climbing or kayaking. I really want to go whitewater rafting—I haven’t done that yet. So, I’m innocent, but I have a bit of a crazy side, too. I definitely have an urge for adventure. I’m not someone who can sit home and do nothing.

What are you looking for in a guy?

Well, first of all, he has to have a sense of humor, because I’m extremely goofy. I could never be with someone if they couldn’t laugh a lot. That’s a big one. Loyalty and honesty are huge for me. Every guy I’ve ever dated—except for the one I’m with now—has cheated on me, but I’m young, so I guess that’s just a normal thing for young guys. He has to have a nice smile and be a hard worker. Oh, and he has to have nice forearms. I love a man’s forearms when they have a little bit of golden color from the sun and some nice veins and muscles. I always notice nice arms right away.

Any deal breakers with guys?

I can’t date guys with blonde hair. I dated one once and it felt like I was dating my brother, so automatically—no blondes.

Are you a good karma girl?

I definitely believe in being a good person and just trying to take what comes at you in life and not forcing things. I’ve always thought that—and to never put people down. I think if I don’t hold the door for someone, someday I’m going to be walking with four boxes and no one’s going to hold the door for me. I’m a huge karma person and a huge go-with-the flow girl.
