Each weekday between now and the Sept. 16 premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights,” FIGHT! will introduce two cast members leading up to the introduction of our TUF bloggers.

Scott Junk

Born in Fort Ord, Calif., Scott Junk grew up in Kailua, HI. He loved football as a kid and went on to become a star offensive lineman at Kalaheo High School. After graduating, Junk returned to California to enroll in DeAnza Junior College in Cupertino before transferring to Southwest Oklahoma State where his stellar football play led him to being named Division II All-American in 2002.

It wasn’t until after his football career was over that Junk had any interest in mixed martial arts. He was introduced to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2005 and immediately fell in love with its required blend of athleticism and technical prowess. He trained with many mixed martial arts teams, including BJ Penn’s group, before settling down with Team MMA Development. In 2007, Junk made his UFC debut, taking a fight with Christian Wellisch on less than two weeks notice at UFC 76 in Anaheim. He lost that bout due to a heel hook in the first round and ever since, Junk has been eager to make his return to the Octagon.

Junk is married with a six year old child and supports his family by working the graveyard shift doing sewage line construction in Hawaii.
