BRINGING COUNTRIES TOGETHER, ONE BEATING AT A TIME.
GLORY DAYS
United Glory—the promotional arm of Golden Glory gyms—will host a show in Moscow, Russia, on March 23 that will feature both MMA and K-1 fights. While the promotion has a reputation for not delivering its projected line-ups, Semmy Schilt and Sergei Kharitonov are scheduled to fight in K-1 bouts. Check out unitedglory.nl for the low-down.
SETTLE THE SCORE
The Score Fighting Series returns to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on March 16. In a lightweight tilt, WEC veterans John Alessio and Ryan Healy will lock horns. Visit scorefighting.com for more info.
SWEDISH SMORGASBORD
UFC on Fuel TV 2 is headed to Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 14. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will battle hometown hero Alexander Gustafsson in the main event, while Brian Stann will duke it out with Alessio Sakara in a middleweight scrape. The UFC’s first venture to Scandinavia looks to be promising, as the event sold out in less than three hours.
BAMMA B’ham
After a February cancellation, BAMMA 9 is set for March 24 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. With possibly the coolest nickname in all of MMA, Mark “The Hand of” Godbeer will be in action. Check out bamma.com for the complete fight card.
PRO ELITE
Stratus Media Group—owner and operator of ProElite MMA—has initiated a promotional partnership and fighter exchange program with DREAM, the largest Japanese MMA organization. The alliance will foster co-promoted events—both in the United States and in Japan—with fighter exchanges featured on the cards of both fight promotions.
WORLDWIDE LEADER IN SPORTS
Hong Kong-based Legend Fighting Championship reached an agreement with ESPN International to distribute the 2-year-old organization’s content exclusively throughout Asia, Oceania, the Indian sub-continent, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Singapore’s One Fighting Championship entered into a 10-year deal with ESPN Star Sports—Asia’s largest sports broadcaster— that will make One FC’s content available throughout Asia. Their next event takes place March 31 in Singapore, with Renato “Babalu” Sobral throwing down against Melvin Manhoef.
