Daniel “Denzil” Thomas (17-6) suffered a disappointment at the hands of a natural disaster when grounded European flights meant that the Dogs of War fighter was forced to withdraw from the biggest fights of his career; an epic showdown with the talented and heavy-handed Kenneth Rosfort (13-2) at Fighter Galla last weekend. Eager to stretch his seven-fight win streak, he will not sit on the sidelines tomorrow as he will take on the durable Ali McClean when Cage Warriors Fighting Championships finally returns on to the UK MMA scene with “Right to Fight”.

The event on May 22nd at the NEC Arena in Birmingham signals the end of the Cage Warriors fight promotion hiatus and it has been welcome with open arms by the fans. A true favourite amongst those fans is Thomas, whose gutsy performances, heart and ever-increasing skills never fail to entertain.

McClean comes in off the back of a draw with TUF trialist AJ Wenn at BAMMA and can’t wait to take part in what he believes will be an epic encounter:

“I think Denzil matches well with me,” he noted. “He has a high work rate and I like that. I am aggressive and I know we will meet in the middle of the cage and it will be explosive. I have a lot of respect for the guy and he beat one of my team mates , so I have everything to fight for in this match. I’m excited about this and excited to be fighting for Cage Warriors….lets get it on!”

Matchmaker Ian Dean also revealed his thoughts to FIGHT! earlier.

“I’m a big fan of Ali’s, he really impressed me in his controversial draw against AJ Wenn at BAMMA and I think, style-wise, a match-up against Denzil should be a very exciting affair. Both guys are extremely tough, come to fight and will enterain the crowd at the NEC on May 22nd.

“I’d like to thank Paddy Mooney of Cage Wars for his co-operation and for allowing Ali to fight on our show.”

This bout adds to an already bustling card with top-ranked international fighter Rosi Sexton in action against Angela Magana for the Cage Warriors title along with Paul McVeigh vs. Frank Sharipov and Greg Loughran vs. Alexandre Izidro also contesting for the belts. There will be a four-man welterweight tournament to battle for the belt vacated by Dan Hardy as well as a four-man amateur tournament (contact the Cage Warriors team to get involved).
