On Tues. the UFC officially announced it’s traditional “Super Saturday” event, a pay per view to take place on the eve of the Super Bowl. This year’s event, UFC 126, falls on Feb. 5 and features a UFC Middleweight Championship bout between reigning champion Anderson Silva (#1 in FIGHT!’s Middleweight Rankings) and MMA legend Vitor Belfort (#4). The bout has been all but official for months, and FIGHT! profiled Belfort in the Dec. issue of the magazine. Former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin (#14) will face former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin (#10) as both men attempt to climb into contention at 205 and undefeated Ryan Bader (#7) will attempt to derail Jon Jones‘ (#9) dramatic ascent.
