Drew Dober Wins Full Time Fighter Experience

Drew Dober of Omaha, Neb. is the winner of FIGHT! Magazine’s Full Time Fighter Experience. The contest, in which FIGHT! readers voted on four final contestants, will take Dober to top Las Vegas gym Xtreme Couture to train with Shawn Tompkins and live in his fighter house from Aug. 16-23. The prize package also includes spending money and training gear from Jaco and MMAWarehouse.

“It was dumb luck finding the contest,” said Dober’s manager and former training partner Ryan Stoddard. “This couldn’t have turned out better for anybody else. Drew deserves it. He worked so hard.”

It’s Dober’s first time in Las Vegas, but its strictly business—he’s not even old enough to drink. The 1-0 20-year-old has followed Tompkins for years through his association with Bas Rutten, Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Chris Horodecki. “Being able to train with a man that I’ve been watching for quite some time is surreal,” said Dober of Tompkins.

Dober recently moved, bought a car, and turned pro, so a week of training in Las Vegas is as good as a vacation. Plus his second professional bout is coming up in September.

“I want to build a relationship and start training with [Xtreme Couture] right away,” said Dober, a striker by trade. He added a specialized message for Tompkins – “Make me better at striking. That’s pretty much it.”
