Aloha! Taylor Makakoa

Hawaiian beauty Taylor Makakoa is an island export that Sin City is happy to have.

Taylor MakakoaWhere are you calling home these days?
I live in Vegas, but Hawaii is my real home. Most of my family is there, and if you ever go there, you’ll know what I mean—the land, the beach, the mountains, the culture, it’s amazing.

How did you pass the time back in Hawaii?
My sister, who’s 16 years older, and I started hula dancing together. I began performing when I was 6 years old. My mom was a hula dancer too. We performed all the time, until I turned 18 years old and started modeling more.

Modeling seems to be working out for you. You’ve already been in Maxim and on rawvegas.tv. How did you get started in the biz?
When I was 12 years old, one of our hula girls said, ‘Hey, you and your sister should go down to this modeling agency.’ I was always an ugly duckling, so my parents were like, ‘Oh, I don’t know about Taylor,’ but they decided to send both of us anyway, and here I am 10 years later.

You’re a big MMA fan. Do you remember the first time you watched a fight?
I used to be a boxing ring girl, and I was never really a fan of boxing, but the first time I saw MMA on TV, it was like, ‘Wow! If you were to get into a fight on the street, that’s how you win—that’s how you survive!’ I just loved it, so I started watching with all my friends. I love everything about MMA. Any favorite fights stick out in your mind? Two fights—Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar at UFC 91. It was frustrating. I think Randy got cheated because when he was about to take Brock down, and Brock grabbed the cage, and he only got a warning. But grabbing the cage is what kept him from going down, and he ended up winning the championship, so I think that was crazy. Another fight was a long time ago, but I always use this as an example—it was Kimo Leopoldo and Royce Gracie. I love Kimo. Gracie couldn’t take him down or get him to submit, so he pulled his hair and got him down to the ground that way. How are you going to tell somebody you won by pulling someone’s hair to get him to the ground?

Who are your favorite fighters?
First, it would be Randy Couture because he’s amazing. He’s the classic MMA fighter. I don’t think anyone will ever compare to Randy. Second, it would be Frank Mir. I just love him. Third, it would have to be Forrest because I love how he fights. I’m always rooting for the underdog. I thought all women loved GSP? I think he’s an incredible fighter. But, he’s like a machine—he’s not even human, so he doesn’t interest me. There’s just something about him. I guess I’m just the type of person who doesn’t like to be on the same bandwagon as everyone else.

Taylor MakakoaI heard you used to do a lot of tae kwon do in your teens.
Yes. When I was a teenager, tae kwon do really helped me to focus in my life, and it really helped me to get through the regular teenage self-esteem issues because however much time you’re practicing in a day—you follow your teacher, you’re disciplined, and you’re focused.

Have you ever dabbled in mixed martial arts?
Yep, I loved it, and I feel I’m happiest when I’m doing some sort of martial arts.

What would you say if Randy Couture invited you to train at Xtreme Couture?
I’d be there in a second.

Expect a call. When you’re not modeling or training, what do you do for fun?
When I’m not working toward my Bachelors in Nutritional Science, I love to play with my dogs. I have a German Shepherd named Rebel, an Italian Mastiff named Koali’i, and a mutt named Ziggy. I also like to go shooting at this place called American Shooter. It has separate shooting ranges, so you don’t have to be grouped altogether in
one area with 20 other people trying to shoot rifles when you’re trying to shoot a pistol.

What kind of heat are you packing?
My favorite is my Nighthawk. I love pulling the target in and seeing that I shot the bad guy in the head, you know? I’m a decent shot.

You sound lethal. What would someone have to do to really piss you off?
I hate arrogant people. That’s number one. I hate when people brag about themselves.

What traits in a guy are the sexiest to you?
There’s nothing sexier than a guy that’s humble but ambitious.

You have a beautiful tattoo on your lower back. Care to share the story behind that?
I love my tattoo. On my 18th birthday, I called my mom and asked her what her three favorite things were besides family, and she told me the Hawaiian flower puakenikeni, the bird of paradise, and orchids. I went out and got the a tattoo of all three. She wasn’t so happy!

She’s probably the only one. How can more fans connect with you?
They can check out my brand new website at www.taylormakakoa.com or www.facebook.com/tmakakoa.

I’m sure your website is about to get a lot more hits.
