FIGHT! Facts & Rankings: Bellator XIX (VIDEO)

Dan Hornbuckle and Ben Askren advanced to the finals of Bellator’s season-two welterweight tournament, where they will scrap for the right to face current divisional champ Lyman Good for the belt. Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Soto warmed up for his first title defense with a first round, non-title fight stoppage win over UFC vet Diego Saraiva. At FIGHT! Magazine, we believe there is a need for a completely objective and unbiased ranking system for fighters to replace the myriad of subjective rankings that have become skewed, in many instances, by fighter popularity. In an effort to address this issue FIGHT! Magazine brings you its computerized rankings system which takes into account a fighters strength of opponent, strength of performance, and frequency of activity.

Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Soto entered and exited the cage ranked #6 in our Featherweight Rankings, while his opponent, Diego Saraiva enters the 145-pound standings at #43. Dan Hornbuckle improved his standing in our Welterweight Rankings from #41 to #30 with his first round submission of unranked Steve Carl. Ryan Thomas dropped from #73 to #92 at 170 after his second loss to unranked Ben Askren. “Funky”‘s first qualifying fight for our rankings will be his tournament final bout opposite Hornbuckle. No other ranked fighters appeared on the card.
