This month’s eye candy has more surprises than a box of chocolates. At only 23, Sophia Roe packs quite a punch and has all the tips you’ll need to make this Valentine’s Day something special.
Where are you calling home these days?
Beautiful, sunny Orlando, Florida.
How often do you go to Disney World?
Well, since you don’t chill with Goofy, how do you pass the time?
I do a lot of stuff. I’m actually a musician. That’s my thing. Also, modeling, which is one of those things people tell me that I should do, so I just do it for fun.
What kind of musician are you?
I sing and I play the piano. I’m really into production—anything from beats to arrangements to engineering. That’s my niche. Number one, most importantly, I can sing and play piano, but I really love arranging music. Composition is my forte.
When are you dropping your album?
I don’t have an album yet [laughing]. We’re still working on it. But my roommate, Jonathan Brookins, he’s a big inspiration of mine. We work a lot together as far as music, so I would say if I was going to come out with an album, he’d be part of it. We’d be a group.
Other than being roomies and music partners, are you two anything else?
We’re roommates and best friends. We used to be together, but things happen. He’s in the UFC, and he’s out of town a lot. We started dating when I was 20 years old, and people grow apart in certain ways. In that way, we definitely grew apart. But through growing apart, we grew together as family. I would do anything for him, and he would do anything for me.
Have you done any training with Jonathan?
I’ve trained jiu-jitsu, but nothing incredible. Lately, my favorite thing is boxing. I love boxing. Right now, I rock climb, I do capoeira, I dance, jump rope, eight miles of running—you name it, I’ll do it. I’ll try anything.
Is there any chance that you’ll pursue MMA yourself?
[Laughs] No, no, no. I would never participate in it, but not because I don’t think women should. There are freaking amazing female athletes out there, but that’s just not for me. I love the training, but to do it for the sport of it? It’s not my style. I have nothing but admiration for those participating in the sport, for sure.
Who are your favorite fighters?
I love Jose Aldo. He’s Brazilian, and I’m half Brazilian, so I have that little connection, which is awesome. I like Benson Henderson, Kenny Florian, Mark Hominick—I like a lot of fighters. Georges St-Pierre is a true athlete. I don’t care what anybody says about it, I’ve seen him in action. Like, yeah, his fights might not be the most entertaining, but he does what he has to do to win.
Valentine’s Day is coming up and plenty of our readers are wondering what to do. Any advice?
Don’t over-think it. I feel like the smaller you keep it, the better. It doesn’t need to be limo service, a crazy ass meal, rose petals, and then crazy sex. I mean, the sex, you’ve got to have that, but it doesn’t need to be so crazy. I think understated is the best way to go. It’s the best way to show somebody that you care about them, that you love them, that you’re interested in them. So, something low key. It doesn’t need to be five stars, but somewhere quiet, some wine, and dress nice. Wherever you’re going, make sure it’s clean. And no cards. They’re the worst. Just tell her how you feel about her.
So who’s your dream guy?
[Laughs] I don’t have a dream guy. I don’t think they exist, do they?
Sure they do. What type of qualities would your dream guy possess?
Honestly, a dream guy is somebody who brings something to the table and who can teach me something. That’s very important. That’s a dream guy right there because that rarely happens. And a guy that has something to say. Like great conversations—a guy I can talk to on the phone, but who will actually talk. Guys don’t talk on the phone nowadays. They don’t communicate, or if they do, they talk about absolute garbage, and I don’t want to talk about TV. I don’t even have
cable—I don’t watch Jersey Shore. Talk about something that means something.
Thanks for talking to us about something today. Where can fans find you?
