MAX EXPOSURE

Maximum Fighting Championship XXXI takes place Oct. 7 in Edmonton, Canada. The MFC Light Heavyweight strap will be on the line when Ryan Jimmo locks horns with Rameau Sokoudjou. In addition, UFC veteran Terry Martin takes on undefeated Dhiego Lima. The six-bout card will be broadcast live on HDNet, with Michael Schiavello and Frank Trigg calling the action.

BROKEN RECORD

The UFC’s return to Brazil in 2012 could be one for the Guinness Book. UFC brass are interested in hosting an event in the city of Manaus, which has an outdoor convention center that seats 100,000 people. The North American attendance record for an MMA event—55,724— was set at UFC 129 in Toronto, Canada, in April.

SMOOTH DEBUT

The Ranik Ultimate Fighting Federation (RUFF) recently unveiled their debut event RUFF: Genesis to an eager crowd of 3,000 at the Shanghai Qizhong Tennis Center in Shanghai, China. The future of Chinese MMA looked promising, as 18 of China’s top mixed martial artists squared off in the cage. RUFF plans to hold its next event in the upcoming months.

Legend Fighting Championship

Legend Fighting Championship 6 hits Macau, China, on Oct. 30. Lightweight Champion Adrian Pang will defend his title against Mongolia’s Jabamba Narantungalag. In addition, Fransino Tirta takes on Mark Striegl in a bout that will crown the inaugural LFC Featherweight Champion.

Ringside

Ringside MMA 12 is scheduled for Oct. 21 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Former Strikeforce welterweight title challenger Paul Daley headlines the card against former UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti.

IMPRESSIVE SHOW

The Pancrase 2011 Impressive Tour heads to the Differ Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on Oct. 2. Headlining the event will be Welterweight King of Pancrase Takenori Sato and Lightweight King of Pancrase Koji Oishi. Tickets in the VIP section are going for 12,000 yen—that’s $156 American dollars.
