MMA Blog: Jermaine Wiggins
From the NFL to MMA
10/7/2008 12:27:48 PM

Hey what's up everybody my name is Jermaine Wiggins and this in my 1st
blog with Fight Magazine and I am very excited to be sharing my story
with you. For those of you who don't now me, I played 8yrs in the NFL
and started in 2 super bowls won 1 with the Patriots in 2001 and also
set a few records while in the NFL. But now I am making the transition
to pro MMA fighter. Not only am I excited about my transition to MMA
but I am also documenting every aspect of my process from my training,
to getting sponsorships and thru my 1st fight. Some of the reasons
why I know this will be a successful one is because I am taking the same
approach which made me successful in the NFL as a undrafted player and
that being my work ethic and determination to be the best. I am also
taking my time to learn and become a student of the art of fighting and
not just relying on my athletic ability. I feel that I don't want to
be a heavyweight who is just one dimensional but a heavyweight who is
well rounded in all aspects from stand up to ground and everything else in
between. I have also put myself around good people to learn from who
have massive amounts of knowledge in MMA and the fight game and they
have shown me the right way to succeed in MMA. Because in my opinion in
order to be successful at anything you do in life, you must apply what
you've learn from those who have been there before and that is the
greatest tool you can receive to achieving greatness. Be on the
lookout, I am coming to fight...
puddyfudge:
Are you crazy! Dude, just be a talking head on the NFL Network and get paid. Fighting..Why? Are you mad?!?!?!?
Tom Brady would NOT approve!

FIGHTMAG Johnny:

MMASurvival:
this was definitely a surprise finding this blog. wiggins was a pretty solid tight end and though wasn't the fastest had great hands. good luck in your journey, pete spratt has found mixed success in mma since leaving behind the gridiron, but he started at a much younger age.
